WELCOME TO SILVER SPRING

 

 

Located just north of Washington, DC, is the very popular and desirable urban community of Silver Spring MD. Bordering on the North side of DC, within Montgomery County MD, this community is also conveniently located only 35 miles SW of Baltimore.  

It is easily accessible by MARC, Metrorail (Red Line) and Metrobus. Currently Silver Spring MD is home to approximately 76,500 residents.

Although this area has always been a popular suburb, it now considered even more desirable. After recently undergoing a significant urban renaissance, this area has been “reborn” and in turn is now considered a highly sought after area in which to live and do business.

 
Today, Silver Spring is well known for its great shopping, a new outdoor shopping plaza which includes many national chains such as Borders Books & Music, Men's Wearhouse, Ann Taylor Loft, Office Depot, and Pier 1 Imports to name a few. Silver Spring is also proud of its popular Farmers Market, found in the heart of downtown that is now o pen year round.

Silver Spring also is represented by a vast number of family-owned res taurants along with many well know chain eateries which shows a vast array of ethnic diversity. In 2009, ashingtonian Magazine ranked 3 Silver Spring Restaurants in the “100 Very Best Restaurants for 2009”. Ray’s the Classic proudly ranked 54. Nicaro ranked 68 and Jackie’s ranked 78.  

 Two of Silver Springs Bars also ranked in Washingtonian Magazine’s “75 Best Bars” in March of 2009. These include Ray’s the Classic, a relatively new bar and restaurant and Quarry House Tavern, one of the area’s oldest drinking establishments.

Silver Spring, MD is part of the excellent Montgomery County school system. The public Montgomery Blair High School is nationally recognized. Silver Spring is also home to 4 libraries and the Takoma Park/Silver Spring campus of Montgomery College.

There are a lot of new residential home options with over 1225 new residential units having been built in the past 5 years. Currently there are 1325 new residential apartments and condominiums under construction in the downtown area to accommodate the growing demand for this exciting rebirth of the community.

There are also lovely lofts and workforce housing currently available on the market. Currently, the average sale price of a home in the Silver Spring area is $350,000.
